Jo-Ann Thorp first started painting portraits using oils as her medium, until she discovered the versatility of pastels, which has now become her preferred medium.
While this award winning artist's passion is working in pastels, she has extensive experience with pen and ink watercolor pencil and colored pencil. She has an eye for the smallest of details and enjoys "getting into her subject" to capture the expressions and moods which bring her portraits of children and pets to life.
In addition to numerous exhibits and awards, Jo-Ann has to her credit, many prestigious commissions including those done for an area historical society, a large corporation and many house renderings in pen and ink and colored pencil for local realtors.
"I try to keep my prices reasonable so that people can afford to own original artwork, although prints are now available on some of my artwork. I hope people get as much pleasure viewing my artwork as I do in creating it."
