Aline Lotter has been painting landscapes only since the Fall of 2005, when she took her first class with Stan Moeller at the NH Institute of Art. Within a year, what had been intended as a hobby has grown to occupy her waking consciousness full-time, even as she continues to ply her day job (tax lawyer). Landscapes were the catalyst for this transformation—not so surprising in retrospect given Aline’s devotion to environmental causes (chair and treasurer of the NH Sierra Club) and love of wild places.

Marveling at the connectedness of the key strands of her life, Aline believes that landscapes in oil are likely to remain her lifelong focus, even as she explores other subjects and media. She credits the influence of Stan Moeller and the association of NH Plein Air artists for introducing her to plein air painting, which has become her new principal mode of expression. No longer limited to wild places, Aline’s paintings have begun to include people, animals and structures. Follow along by checking her website from time to time.
