Dale Tremblay Begley

Uncommon Portraits and Figuratives in Pastel
Portrait Commissions Welcome

Dale Tremblay Begley, a professional artist, creates uncommon portraits of people, pets and wildlife. Beyond capturing a likeness, each painting tells a story about it's subject.

"I especially love to portray children and family life" says the artist, whose style is realistic but weaves in the emotional nuances of her subjects. Characteristic of her style is an ethereal, yet uplifting mood, which the artist achieves by using pastels. Occasionally she works in charcoal, acrylic and oils.

Primarily self-taught, she began painting oil portraits for commission when she was just 15 years old. She later worked as a graphic artist for several years before returning to fine art about four years ago. She now she now dedicates all of her professional talents to her fine art and illustration.

Reviewing Dale's work at the 1999 "Expanded Horizon's" Exhibit, juror and nationally known arts-writer Debbie Hagan writes, "In addition to these works being masterfully rendered, the subjects are so appealing. The artist goes beyond offering portraits of children, but offers narratives that are universally understood and uplifting. The light in each work seems to magically touch the children's hair and faces. The artist is subtle in her use of color and achieves a wonderful balance in each piece..."

A creative artist and illustrator Dale has created figurative paintings for several regional magazine covers, including Parenting New Hampshire. She has created religious and inspirational paintings for such companies as Berkshire Originals, Concord Litho Group, and Salesian Ministries, for reproduction as greeting cards and inspirational book vignettes. She has illustrated children's educational stories for SRA/McGraw Hill. Her wildlife art has been featured in an international catalog for the World Wildlife Federation.

Exhibiting locally and nationally, Dale has received numerous awards including "Artist of the Year" by Manchester Artists Association in New Hampshire, and has juried into several national shows including 13th "Pastel USA" International Juried exhibit. Her portraits and figurative paintings hang in private collections throughout the US. She also teaches pastel.
